Dear Reader,

It’s funny how themes emerge. Lately, quite a few folks have suggested I should think about starting a YouTube channel. The idea, as I understand it, is to have another way to share the kind of analysis I post here on my blog, but maybe in a format that works better for visual explanations: think walking through a Power BI dashboard setup or untangling an ERP workflow.

Honestly, I’m genuinely thankful that so many readers find the content here valuable enough to suggest expanding its reach. It’s gratifying to know the analysis resonates. The suggestion itself makes you stop and think about how best to get ideas across. Video could be great for showing, not just telling, and potentially offers a different kind of interaction.

The Reality Check: Time and Focus

But let’s be real, launching a YouTube channel isn’t just hitting ‘record’. It’s a serious commitment. When I break it down, a few things jump out:

  1. From Text to Talk: Turning analytical posts into watchable videos? That’s a whole different beast, needing time for scripting and planning to keep things accurate and interesting.
  2. Making It Look (and Sound) Good: Then there’s the actual production – recording, editing, maybe some basic graphics. And getting the sound right is non-negotiable; poor audio can sink even the best content.
  3. The Consistency Treadmill: YouTube, like any platform, really wants regular content. Finding the time to keep that up consistently means something else probably has to give.

And right now, that “something else” (specifically, the deep-dive research and writing that goes into my current blog content) is demanding a significant amount of focus and mental energy. Frankly, trying to spin up a YouTube channel at the same time feels like a recipe for diluting the quality of both efforts. My priority is to maintain the depth and rigor you’ve come to expect here.

So, What’s the Verdict?

For now, YouTube is going on the back burner. It’s not a ’no’, but it’s definitely a ’not yet’. The idea makes sense – especially for showing technical stuff visually – but it needs the proper time and attention to do it right without compromising existing commitments.

Once I have a bit more bandwidth and can ensure a YouTube channel would meet the same quality standards I aim for with my written analyses, I’ll definitely give the idea another look. Until then, my primary focus remains on delivering valuable in-depth articles here on the blog. Thanks for the input, though; it’s always good food for thought!

I truly appreciate everyone who reads my content here.

Sincerely,

Oliver Triunfo
